This paper reports a metaanalytic-like pooled analysis of surgical outcomes for low-grade isthmic spondylolisthesis from 34 previous studies.  Combined anterior-posterior surgery had better outcomes than either approach alone.  Smokers and patients with secondary gains had substantially worse outcomes.  This is the best available review paper on isthmic spondylolisthesis.
