2008 – Does vertebral level of Pedicle Subtraction Osteotomy correlate with degree of spino-pelvic parameter correction?

Mar 19, 2012 by

Summary: In the setting of sagittal imbalance, pedicle subtraction osteotomy (PSO) may be applied to correct spino-pelvic malalignment. This multi-center study investigated the effects of PSO level and degree of resection on changes in spino-pelvic parameters. 70 patients with sagittal x-rays were analyzed before and after surgery. Results demonstrated that PSO level impacts pelvic tilt while PSO degree mostly correlates with global sagittal correction. The findings carry significance when planning correction of spino-pelvic malalignment through a PSO.
